  17. I have just recently bought a 28.8 Lifestyle Motorola
  18. if this is the same guts (CPU/DSP/sw) as the Power  I have
  19. a few comments which may be relevant.

  21.         o For 28.8 connections after a power on or after a
  22.           previous 28.8k are fine.
  23.  
  24.         o For every 28.8 connection after a 14.4k (fax or data) it will fail
  25.           100% of the time. If you do an AT&F it will fail about 30%
  26.           of the time. If you power cycle it will succeed every time.
  27.  
  28.         o Lots of problems receiving faxes. Doesn't matter
  29.           which sw (Winfax Pro, Eclipse, QuickLink II) success
  30.           seems to be a hit and miss affair although some fax
  31.           machines will always fail on send to me, others will
  32.           fail several times then succeed. In Winfax Pro the most
  33.           common error is:
  34.           "70 (Class 1/2) - Modem error setting modem data rate.",
  35.           in the others it is "Unknown fax error" !! Init strings
  36.       and power cylcing seems to have no effect in this case.

  38. More inmportantly neither Motorola nor Microsmith (the sw that
  39. comes with Motorola) have been of any help whatsoever: neither
  40. ever answered back after the initial query!
